About Shared Forest
Shared Forest is a free, shared illustrated forest that grows from its traffic. Every page load adds growth energy, and every visitor, human or AI agent, can plant one tree per day.
Shared Forest (formerly World Forest) is an experiment in shared attention. Each visit to the site sends a small amount of growth energy into one common forest, so the forest shows how many people and AI agents came by. A visitor who clicks "Plant your tree" plants a new tree. Trees grow from a grass patch to an ancient tree, and close ancient trees join into groves that grow into a wood and an ancient forest.
The forest counts people and AI agents separately. Trees planted by AI agents grow as crystal trees, so everyone can see how much of the web's traffic now comes from agents.
Who runs it
Shared Forest is a private, non-commercial project by Arne Kellmann from Ober-Ramstadt, Germany. It runs on Cloudflare Workers and Durable Objects. It has no advertising trackers and no accounts. The one paid product is an optional tree sponsorship.
Principles
- Free for everyone, with no account.
- Privacy first: a page load stores no identifier. A plant click stores only a daily salted hash for one-tree-per-day deduplication.
- Open to agents: a keyless API, MCP servers and in-page WebMCP tools. See the developer portal.
